Bio
I'm Kelvin Ochubili, a Front-End Engineer based in Lagos, Nigeria, specialising in React and Next.js.
My path here wasn't the obvious one. I studied Chemical Engineering at Michael Okpara University, and while I pursued this degree, I spent my free time teaching myself to code on the side. Something about building things on a screen felt more alive than anything in a textbook. By the time I graduated, frontend development had already become my full-time focus.
Four years later I've shipped products that handle real money, real users, and real stakes. A ticket platform processing ₦30M+ in revenue. An enterprise website for one of Canada's largest property managers. A gaming social network that earned Awwwards Honors. What ties all of it together isn't the stack, it's the way I think about the work.
I don't see myself as someone who takes a design file and produces code. I think about what the interface needs to achieve. Who's using it, what decision they're trying to make, what gets in their way. That product instinct is what I bring to every project alongside the technical execution.
Working with Me
I'm the kind of Engineer who asks questions before writing a single line, not to slow things down, but because understanding the problem properly is the fastest route to a good solution. I've worked directly with Designers, Product Managers, and Backend Engineers, and I'm comfortable in all those conversations.
I work best in environments where the product actually matters to the team building it. Where there's craft in the decisions, not just output.
Outsite the Code
When I'm not building something, I'm usually playing games, digging into new music, or keeping up with my favorite TV shows.
